Lauren Carlini named Big Ten Setter of the Week

Junior goes over 4,000 career assists on week
MADISON, Wis. – Junior Lauren Carlini was named the Big Ten Conference Setter of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. She picks up her fourth setter of the week honor of the season and the eighth of her career.
Carlini led the Badgers to two 3-0 sweeps last week as the Badgers downed Rutgers on Nov. 25 and No. 14 Purdue on Nov. 28. Â Wisconsin hit .324 on the week as the 6-1 setter averaged 13.67 assists per set. She set a UW 25-point rally scoring record for three sets with 49 assists against the Boilermakers. Â
The Aurora, Illinois, native added 2.67 digs and 1.17 blocks per set on the week. She was perfect in hitting against Rutgers, going four for four with no errors, while adding nine digs and four blocks. Carlini also added one ace, seven digs and three blocks at Purdue.
Carlini surpassed two career milestones last week as well, going over 1,000 digs vs. Rutgers and 4,000 assists at Purdue. She is UW's fifth setter over 4,000 assists and 16th player over 1,000 digs.
The No. 6-seed Badgers (24-6) make their third-straight NCAA tournament appearance when they host first and second-round matches on Thursday-Friday in the UW Field House.
Iowa State (18-10), coached by former UW assistant coach Christy Johnson Lynch, takes on Miami (Fla.) (21-9) in the first match on Thursday at 5 p.m. Wisconsin faces Oregon (16-13) in the second match on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. First-round winners will advance to the second round match on Friday at 7 p.m.
