Sophomore Baylee Wellhausen looks ahead to UW's matchup with the Lady LIons
Hi Badger Fans!Â
Â
It's "gameday eve" and the Badgers are excited to return home to LaBahn Arena after a month of traveling.Â
Â
Last weekend the Badgers left their mark in Duluth, sweeping the UMD Bulldogs in a 3-0 win on Friday and a 4-2 victory on Saturday. Goals were, once again, widespread among the players, as Erika Sowchuk (2), Emily Clark (2), Rachel Jones, Courtney Burke, and Annie Pankowski lit the lamp.Â
Â
Yes, the Badgers' 624 minutes and 18 second long shutout streak was broken. However, the girls are very optimistic. Even Ann-Renee Desbiens herself mentioned that she felt like the pressure was off her shoulders. Rather than focusing on maintaining a streak, we can now all focus on continuing to do what we can to be successful, starting with a clean slate. We are all extremely honored and proud to be a member of the team that achieved an NCAA record.Â
Â
This week the Badgers have been practicing hard, preparing to take on the Lindenwood Lady Lions.Â
Â
Assistant captain, Sydney McKibbon, reflects on the Badgers' performance in Duluth and shares her expectations for this weekend:Â
Â
"I think we're all expecting Lindenwood to come out and play hard all weekend against us. They are a tough team who battles for 60 minutes, so we need to play two complete games regardless of the score. It's always nice to play out-of-conference games because we get to play teams who we normally never get to play." Â
Â
Games are at 2:00 p.m. on both Friday and Sunday. We hope to see you there wearing your red and white, or as our assistant director of athletic communications (aka AJ Harrison) puts it, "Cardinal and White!" Â
Â
On Wisconsin!Â
   Â

Â
P.S. -Â In last week's blog, I forgot to mention the return of Emily Clark and Sarah Nurse into the Badger lineup after an awesome performance in Sweden at the Four Nations tournament. Congratulations on your achievements, guys. We are happy to have you back!!Â
