Hi Badger fans!
I apologize that it has been almost centuries since I last posted! The life of a student athlete can be pretty hectic! Personally, I thank you for your loyalty and patience.
Last weekend the Badgers swept St. Cloud.
Sarah Nurse led the way, tallying not one, but two consecutive short-handed goals Friday. Additional goals from
Lauren Williams,
Rachel Jones, and
Jenny Ryan helped the Badgers to a 5-0 victory. Battling some on Saturday, the Badgers managed to snatch another win with goals from
Erika Sowchuk and
Annie Pankowski in a 2-0 final. Ann-Renee Desbiens and
Megan Miller each earned shutouts this weekend, Miller's being her first in her career at Wisconsin. Congratulations Megan!!
This week much excitement is in the atmosphere at LeBahn as the Badgers are busy preparing for another set of home games against Bemidji State. It will be our first series against a ranked team this year as we enter the series ranked third, while Bemidji State is sixth.
Emily Clark is anticipating a big weekend for the girls. "I think everyone's excited for the games this weekend," she says. "It will be our biggest challenge yet this season. We've had high intensity and fast pace practices all week so we'll be ready for Friday night."
Games this weekend will be Friday night at 7:00 pm and Saturday at 3:00 pm. Friday night will be student night (which includes the greatest deal of a free women's hockey shirt, pizza, and refreshments that is simply too hard to pass up), so come out and support! In addition, the Badger Band will be there for both games, so LaBahn Arena will be rocking!
This is the last weekend the Badgers will be donning their pink sticks to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month as well. On behalf of the nine girls using these special sticks, we would like to thank Andy Baggot for writing an amazing article on the stories behind the pink. Check it out in
Varsity Magazine, or on the
Badger Women's Hockey website. We would all like to share our support to those affected by this disease. It is an honor to help spread awareness! Think pink!
We hope to see you all this weekend! On Wisconsin!
