MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin Athletic Department in conjunction with Oscar Mayer is pleased to announce Matthew Pinion of Baraboo, Wis., as today's Wisconsin Football Season Ticket Holder of the Game.

Nominated by his grandson Ben, Matt has been a season ticket holder for 44-straight seasons and has missed less than a dozen home games. His dedication and passion for Badger football is what makes him this week's season ticket holder of the game.

For a 10-year period, he made it a mission to travel once a season to an away game and has been to almost every Big Ten stadium. But after his travels, nothing compares to the excitement of Camp Randall and the electricity the student section brings according to Pinion.

Matt has also travelled to Hawaii and to six bowl games that include games in El Paso, San Antonio, Tampa, and Pasadena. His most memorable bowl game was the 1994 Rose Bowl Game when quarterback Darrell Bevell famously scored on a scramble late in the fourth quarter.

When he was a student at Wisconsin, Matt studied civil engineering and had student season tickets all five years beginning in his freshmen year during the Alan Ameche era in 1953. During Camp Randall renovations during the spring of 1957, Matt would walk past the stadium every day and stop to marvel at the construction that was taking place in his sanctuary.

Matt's game day experiences are ones he cherishes with his family. Usually attending with his children and grandchildren, Matt attends the pre-game festivities at Union South to watch the band performance to get his adrenaline pumping prior to kickoff. He then sprints over to the Camp Randall Memorial Arch and can be seen giving Band Director Mike Leckrone a high-five as the march continues into Camp Randall.

Matt has passed his Badger passion down to his own family. Two of his sons, Tom and John, graduated from UW-Madison also with civil engineering degrees. Two of his grandchildren, Ben and Lexi, also recently graduated from UW-Madison.

As part of being named the Season Ticket Holder of the Game, Matt will receive a reserved parking space and tailgate spread courtesy of Oscar Mayer. In addition he will be recognized on the field during today's game vs. Ohio State.

The University of Wisconsin Athletic Department is pleased to join Oscar Mayer in saluting Matthew Pinion as this week's Season Ticket Holder of the Game.
