Madison, Wis. - Student-athletes interested in post-graduate studies received a great deal of information on Monday evening (Oct. 19). Students gathered in Gate A of the Kohl Center to get information on their program interest areas, personal statements, and other application strategies in areas including law, medicine, and physical therapy.
Krisiti Hallisy, a former UW basketball player and current member of the physical therapy admissions review board, was impressed by the event and the opportunity afforded to current student-athletes.
Organized by Career Development Coordinator Kelli Richards, the event opened with an in-depth discussion about creating personal statements, facilitated by Katie Lynch from the Writing Center. It also included a panel discussion on admissions and small group sessions led by representatives from various graduate programs. The event was small this year, but Kelli hopes it will grow in the years to come, as many more athletes take advantage of the programs aimed to help prepare them for futures after intercollegiate competition.
