The Athlon Sports Sideline Spirit Contest is entering its eight year and has proven to be one of the most popular programs on our website. Twenty-four universities from across the country will be chosen to participate in this contest, which runs from the beginning of the college football season in September until the start of the bowl season in December.
The program is broken-up into six rounds, featuring four universities in each round (focusing on the best school spirit between two rivalry match-ups). Visitors to the Athlon Sports website have the opportunity to show their school spirit by voting for the spirit contestant representing their favorite team. At the conclusion of the first six rounds, twelve universities (two pools of six) will advance to the Semi-Final round.
The Final round will be held after the Thanksgiving holiday and will consist of two universities going head-to-head for the championship title. The only way to advance to the semi-final or final rounds is to be the highest vote getter in each round. Click here to view the bracket.
The spirit contestant representing the winning university will be featured in the 2011 Athlon Sports College Football annuals and her squad will receive $2,000 in cash, a Panasonic Camera, Panasonic Video Camera and a Panasonic TV.
