MADISON, Wis. -- With just a few days left before the Badger football team travels to Lincoln, Neb., to take on the Cornhuskers, Wisconsin supporters are being asked to help Madison beat Lincoln in the Madison vs. Lincoln Food Bowl.
Started September 1 with the launch of Hunger Action Month, the Madison vs. Lincoln Food Bowl is a virtual food drive challenge between Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin and its sister food bank, the Foodbank of Lincoln. To help, supporters should click here.
"This is a unique opportunity to provide relief to those struggling with hunger right here in southwestern Wisconsin," said Dan Stein, President/CEO of Second Harvest Foodbank. "We're a little behind Lincoln right now and need help from the southwestern Wisconsin community, to raise the most meals when the timer runs out."
Designed to mirror the enthusiasm shown by football fans of the two teams, the Food Bowl pits city against city in a head-to-head competition to see who can raise the most in charitable donations for their respective organization. Most importantly, it provides much needed food to community members facing hunger. For every $1 donated, three meals can be provided.

Hunger Action Month is an initiative of Feeding America, and its nationwide food bank network, which includes Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin and the Food Bank of Lincoln, to mobilize the public to raise awareness and take action in support of domestic hunger relief.
