VOLLEYBALL (13-2, 1-1 B1G)
This week: The Badgers (13-2, 1-1) open the Big Ten Conference home season by hosting two ranked teams. Wisconsin takes on No. 4 Penn State (12-1, 2-0) on Friday at 7 p.m. On Saturday, UW takes on No. 23 Ohio State (10-4, 1-1) at 7 p.m. Both matches are in the UW Field House.

Last week: UW opened Big Ten play on the road last weekend, downing Northwestern 3-1 on Friday before falling at No. 20 Illinois, 3-2, on Sunday.  

Need to know: Wisconsin honors former head coach Steve Lowe with the 22nd-annual Steve Lowe Night on Friday. Each year, the Badgers honor Lowe, who led UW to its first Big Ten title and NCAA tournament berth in 1990, at its Big Ten home opener. Lowe passed away in 1991 after coaching the Badgers for six years. 

Good to know: Friday's match against Penn State will be streamed live on BTN.com.

FOOTBALL (3-1)
This week: No. 23 Wisconsin travels to No. 22/20 Nebraska on Saturday to open the 2012 Big Ten Conference season under the lights at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:12 p.m. 

Last week: The Badgers closed out their non-conference schedule with a 37-26 win over UTEP at Camp Randall Stadium. The win marked Wisconsin's 19th-straight victory at Camp Randall, dating back to a 20-10 loss to Iowa on Oct. 17, 2009.

Need to know: Wisconsin owns a five-game win streak in Big Ten play, tying with Baylor for the longest active conference win streak among BCS conference teams.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
This week: The Badgers travel to Chicago, Ill., this weekend for the Sean Earl Invitational. The race, which is slated for Sat., Sept. 29, at 12:15 p.m., is being hosted by Loyola-Chicago.

Last week: The No. 1-ranked Wisconsin men's cross country team earned its second victory of the season -- and its eighth-consecutive team title -- in the 8-kilometer Wolfie Invitational on Sat., Sept. 15, in Stony Brook, N.Y.

Need to know: The Badgers finished with a team score of 20 points as UW swept places two though six at the Wolfie Invitational.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY 
This week: The Badgers send runners to both the Greater Louisville Classic (Louisville, Ky.) and the Sean Earn Invitational (Chicago, Ill.) on Sat., Sept. 29.

Last week: Wisconsin ran to an impressive win at the Panorama Farms Invitational by placing four runners in the top 10 among a strong field in the 5-kilometer event in Earlysville, Va.

Need to know: FThe Badgers emerged with a team score of 35 points at the Panorama Invite to extend their season-opening win streak to three.

WOMEN'S HOCKEY (0-0-0) 
This week: The women's hockey team opens the 2012 season on the road with a trip to Mankato, Minn., to take on Minnesota State Friday and Saturday. The series is only one of two conference matchups in the nation this weekend.

Last week: The Badgers dropped a 3-1 decision to arch-rival Minnesota in the 2012 NCAA Frozen Four Championship game on March 18. Wisconsin went 35-5-2 on the season, winning its fourth WCHA regular-season championship.

Need to know: LaBahn Arena, the new home for Wisconsin women's hockey, is set to debut on Oct. 19 with the Badgers' matchup against Bemidji State.

MEN'S SOCCER (2-3-3, 0-1-0)
This week: After opening Big Ten action last weekend at the McClimon Soccer Complex, the men's soccer team plays in two non-conference matches this week, traveling to Marquette on Wednesday before hosting Cleveland State on Saturday.

Last week: The Badgers struggled offensively in the conference opener, getting shutout, 1-0, by Penn State Friday night. Freshman goalkeeper Chase Rau was stellar in net, making saves on six-of-seven shots-on-goal in the contest as the Badgers were outshot 23-9. 

Need to know: The match against Marquette marks Wisconsin's first mid-week game of the season. The Badgers have three more mid-week games in the 2012 season; Oct. 10 vs. Milwaukee, Oct. 17 vs. Green Bay and Oct. 24 vs. UMKC, all of which will be played at the McClimon Soccer Complex.

This Week: The No. 14 Badgers (7-3-0, 1-2-0 B1G) hit the trail for a pair of key Big Ten road tests, as they take on Minnesota at 7 p.m. on Thursday before traveling to Ohio State on Sunday. Wisconsin will kickoff with the Buckeyes at noon on Sept. 30.

Last Week: Before falling to Michigan, 3-0, for their first home loss of the season, Wisconsin recorded a 1-0 win over Michigan State in its Big Ten home opener. 

Need to Know: The Badgers are 5-1-0 at the McClimon Complex in 2012 and are outscoring opponents 21-12.
