A successful summer of Badger Days wrapped up in Madison on August 14 at Camp Randall Stadium. The event, which featured appearances by director of athletics Barry Alvarez, new head football coach Bret Bielema, hockey national championship head coaches Mike Eaves and Mark Johnson and mens basketball coach Bo Ryan, was the fourth and final Badger Days gathering for 2006.
Badger Days gave fans, ticket holders, donors and alumni of all ages the chance to interact and socialize with many Wisconsin coaches, administrators, spirit squad and, of course, Bucky Badger. Additionally, fans had the opportunity to take photos with the hockey national championship trophies, Capital One Bowl trophy, and Paul Bunyans Axe. Buckys Lockerroom also opened a satellite store at each site which gave fans the chance to purchase the latest Wisconsin merchandise.
In addition to Madison, a busload of Badger coaches and administrators traveled throughout the summer to various parts of the state including Eau Claire, Milwaukee and Green Bay. Local, energetic Badger fans in attendance heard from UW coaches about the latest happenings in Badger athletics, in addition to enjoying a tailgate-style dinner and a social hour. Unique Wisconsin Badger items were available to all attending guests through raffle prizes and the silent auction. Prizes such as football, basketball and hockey tickets, an evening in a Kohl Center suite, a variety of autographed items and authentic game jerseys were at each location. A special congratulations goes out to Sharon Rohde of Brookfield, Wis.! She was the grand prize winner of the 2006 Badger Days raffle drawing for Buckingham Club season football tickets.
UW Athletics would like to thank everyone in the Eau Claire, Green Bay, Milwaukee and Madison communities for your warm hospitality and support at these events in your city! We look forward to next year as dates, times and locations will be set in early 2007.
