MADISON, Wis. – Jason Holtman has been named Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services at the University of Wisconsin announced by Assistant Athletic Director for Student Services Doug Tiedt. Holtman will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Office of Academic Services.
Holtman comes to Wisconsin after serving as the Associate Athletic Director for Academics and Student Development at Central Michigan University. While at CMU, Holtman provided athletic academic services and Life Skills programming for over 400 student-athletes. He served as the sport administrator for the CMU baseball program and was a member of the senior management team. Holtman had direct oversight of football academics and also assisted in certifying initial eligibility.
Prior to CMU, Holtman spent five years as an academic counselor at the University of Illinois where he worked directly with men’s basketball, women’s basketball and wrestling. At Illinois, Holtman hired, trained, supervised and scheduled monitors for the Irwin Academic Services Center, worked with compliance, deans, records officers and coaches on continuing eligibility issues and assisted in the development and facilitation of Life Skills programming and community outreach.
Holtman also served as a member of the Academic Services staff at Indiana State University, as well as a member of the Academic Advising staff at Rice University. He earned his master’s degree in recreation and sport management with a concentration in counseling from ISU in 1998 and completed his bachelor’s degree in sport management from Bowling Green State University in 1994.
Holtman is an active member of National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics and is currently serving as the Region III Director.
