This week: No. 12 Wisconsin opens its 124th season of football by hosting No. 9 (FCS) Northern Iowa at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 2:42 p.m., with the game airing live on BTN and online with BTN2Go.
Last week: The Badgers open their season in search of a third-consecutive Big Ten title after winning the inaugural Big Ten Football Championship game last season en route to a second-straight Rose Bowl berth.
Need to know: Wisconsin has won its season opener every year since 1998, a run of 14 consecutive victories that is tied with USC for the third-longest active streak in the FBS, trailing only Nebraska (26) and Florida (22).

MEN’S SOCCER
This week: The men’s soccer team (1-0-0) heads out to the Pacific Northwest for the Nike Portland Invitational for games against Washington on Friday and Portland on Sunday.
Last week: The Badgers opened the 2012 season with a tremendous come-from-behind victory at Memphis last Friday night. Entering halftime with a 2-0 deficit, Wisconsin used a late rally, scoring four goals in the final 14 minutes, to secure a 4-3 win. Four different Badgers earned goals, including two newcomers.
Need to know: Jide Oluyedun scored the Wisconsin’s first game-winning goal of the the season, netting his first goal as a Badger in the 89th minute to cap off the come-back win at Memphis. The Badgers remain undefeated in season openers dating back to 2007 and are 22-11-3 overall season openers.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
This Week: The No. 14 Badgers (3-0-0) open the road portion of their schedule this weekend, visiting No. 2 UCLA on Friday night at 9 p.m. and Loyola-Marymount on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Last Week: Wisconsin finished its three-match homestand with a 4-0 win against Loyola-Chicago on Sunday.
Need to Know: For the first time since 1991, UW has opened the season with three-straight shutouts.

VOLLEYBALL
This Week: The Badgers (2-1) take to the road for the second-straight weekend, traveling to Long Beach, Calif., on Friday and Saturday for the Long Beach Invitational. Wisconsin will take on James Madison (1-2), Cal State Northridge (2-1) and Long Beach State (1-2) in the round-robin tournament.
Last Week: Wisconsin finished second at the USF Invitational last weekend with a 2-1 mark. UW lost to Creighton, 3-1, in the championship match. Sophomores Ellen Chapman and Courtney Thomas were named to the all-tournament team.
Need to Know: Junior Annemarie Hickey tallied double-figure digs in all three matches on the weekend, upping her streak of matches with 10-or-more digs to seven (dating back to last season). The 5-9 libero has 849 digs in her career and ranks fourth on the UW career record list in digs per set at 3.60.
