WOMEN'S SOCCER (2-0-0)
This Week: Wisconsin continues its four-game homestand to open the regular season, as it prepares to host South Dakota State on Friday and Northern Iowa on Sunday in Madison.
Last Week: Wisconsin doubled up with a pair of wins in its first weekend of the regular season, defeating Oregon 1-0 and topping Tennessee 2-1 in overtime. Cara Walls, Rose Lavelle and Kodee Williams each scored their first goals of the season, including Williams providing the golden goal to lift UW past UT in the first overtime period on Sunday. Lavelle and Williams each recorded at least one point in each of the first two matches of the season.
Need to Know: This is the fourth time a team coached by Paula Wilkins has started 2-0. Two of those three seasons ended in trips to the NCAA tournament, including one Big Ten championship.

This Week: No. 14 Wisconsin opens its season Saturday by taking on 13th-ranked LSU in the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff at NRG Stadium in Houston. The Badgers and Tigers will tangle at 8 p.m. (CT), with the game airing on ESPN and streaming via WatchESPN.
Last Week: The Badgers look to replace 13 starters - 10 of which made NFL training camp rosters - from last year's team that finished 9-4 overall and 6-2 in the Big Ten in its first season under head coach Gary Andersen.
Need to Know: The Badgers have won 16 consecutive season-openers dating back to 1998, tied for the third-longest streak in the nation behind only Nebraska (28) and Florida (24). LSU has won 11 straight games to open a season, a streak that dates to 2003.
Good to Know: ESPN will broadcast Saturday's game with Sean McDonough, Chris Spielman and Todd McShay on the call. On radio, the game airs live statewide on the Badger Sports Network, with Matt Lepay, Mike Lucas and Patrick Herb calling the action, as well as nationwide on Westwood One. This Week: No. 21 Wisconsin plays the final exhibition of its preseason slate on Monday, facing No. 1 Notre Dame in a rematch of a 2013 NCAA tournament second-round matchup. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. (CT). The Badgers then return home and prepare to kick off their regular season against the University of San Francisco on Friday and Xavier on Sunday.
Last Week: UW earned a 1-0 exhibition victory of the University of Illinois-Chicago in Madison, as freshman Tom Barlow scored the game-winning goal. The Badgers fell on the road in exhibition play to Creighton, 4-2, despite freshmen Mike Catalano and Nikola Atlija each scoring goals.
Need to Know: Through two exhibitions matches this season, three different freshmen have combined to score for the Badgers. Tom Barlow scored against UIC, while Mike Catalano and Nikola Atlija each netted goals against Creighton.

This Week: The No.6 Badgers (28-10 in 2013) kick off the 2014 season on Friday and Saturday, competing in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge in Minneapolis. Wisconsin and Minnesota (29-7) represent the Big Ten and take on Louisville (23-8) and Notre Dame (13-18) from the ACC.
Last Week: Nearly 800 people came out on Saturday to the Badger volleyball fan fest and open practice. It was fans first chance to meet the 2014 Wisconsin team and see the team in action. Following the fan fest, the UW players took to the court for an open practice. Following the practice, fans were able to ask questions of Sheffield and the Badger players.
Need to Know: Wisconsin is ranked sixth in the 2014 AVCA Preseason Coaches poll. It is the highest preseason ranking for the Badgers since 2001 and the second-highest in program history.
