MADISON, Wis. - Over 350 donors participated in the annual University of Wisconsin Athletic Department Football Training Camp Outing August 16 at Camp Randall Stadium.
A tremendous turnout of the department's donors had the exclusive opportunity to watch the football team scrimmage as they prepare for the first game of the season against Northern Iowa on September 1.
Attendees were able to get an up close look of the new Adidas TECHFIT football uniforms that the Badgers will wear on September 29 when they visit the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Guests also had an opportunity to take photos with the 2011 Big Ten Championship Trophy along with Paul Bunyan's Ax and the Heartland Trophy.
As practice concluded several coaches and players addressed the crowd to provide a preview of the upcoming season and answer questions from the audience. Head coach Bret Bielema, defensive coordinator Chris Ash, and assistant head coach Thomas Hammock as well as seniors Jared Abbrederis and Shelton Johnson addressed the crowd. Coach Bielema also thanked those in attendance for their support of Wisconsin Athletics.
The success of Wisconsin Athletics and the over 800 Badger student-athletes depends in great part on the collective loyalty and generosity of alumni, fans and friends. Events such as the Football Training Camp Outing provide an opportunity to thank those donors for their support of the program.
