Athletic Luncheon Series schedule announced

Aug. 16, 2010

MADISON, Wis. -- The UW Athletic Department announced today the fall schedule for the newest exclusive donor event opportunity, the Athletic Luncheon Series. The Athletic Luncheon Series, to be held monthly during the athletic competition calendar, will feature leaders from within the world of athletics.

"We are pleased to introduce the Athletic Luncheon Series beginning this fall," Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez said. "This series will provide donors with an opportunity to hear from a dynamic lineup of speakers who will address current events and provide some unique insight into their area of the sports world."

The fall schedule consists of luncheons to be held at the Kohl Center on September 17, October 8, and November 12.

The Sept. 17 luncheon will feature two speakers including Badger head football coach Bret Bielema as well as University of Wisconsin alumnus Chuck Neinas. Neinas is the president of Neinas Sports Services, which provides a wide range of consulting services related to intercollegiate athletics including identifying and assisting in the employment of athletic administrators and coaches.

Neinas is also an advisor for the American Football Coaches Association and is the former executive director of the College Football Association.

Troy Vincent, former Badger great and five time NFL All-Pro selection, will serve as the keynote speaker for the Oct. 8 luncheon. Vincent, a member of the UW Athletics Hall of Fame, is currently the National Football League's Vice President of Player Development and oversees a number of support programs for players and their families, including the rookie symposium, conduct management program, and LifeSkills program.

Big Ten Conference Commissioner Jim Delany will serve as the speaker for the Nov. 12 luncheon. Delany, the Big Ten's fifth commissioner since its founding in 1896, is in his 19th year in that role.

He has led the Big Ten through significant periods of change and growth that have helped the conference maintain its preeminent position as one of the nation's leaders in providing quality athletic and academic experiences for young people.

Invitations for the Athletic Luncheon Series will be sent to all qualifying donors. In addition to making a remarkable difference in the lives of Badger student-athletes, donors to Wisconsin Athletics are offered unique benefit opportunities, including invitations to special events.
