MADISON, Wis. -- Russell Wilson is often asked what it's like playing in Camp Randall Stadium.
"It was a great experience, playing here in Camp Randall," the Super Bowl winning quarterback said. "It was an awesome experience and a blessing."
Ask any UW student-athlete and they'll give you the same response. That spine-tingling experience and home-field/court/ice advantage is direct reflection of our incredible fan base and season ticket holders.
To you, we say thank you.
"We consider ourselves very fortunate to have the dedicated support of the best fans in college athletics," director of athletics Barry Alvarez said. "Our season ticket holders mean a great deal to us and are vital to our success. Thanks for a terrific year."
The Badgers were proud to boast attendance records that rank among any school in the country. Wisconsin has more than 93,000 season tickets and six different UW teams ranked among the nation's top 20 in attendance last season.
The Final Four men's hoops team played in front of an average of 17,104 fans, which ranked seventh in all of basketball. Not to be outdone, Wisconsin's national runner-up volleyball team ranked fifth in the NCAA, averaging over 3,500 fans per game.
The Badgers' hockey teams ranked second (women's) and third (men's) in the nation as more than 250,000 UW faithful packed the Kohl Center and LaBahn Arena.
More than half a million Cardinal and White die-hards packed Camp Randall Stadium in 2013, including our seven Season Ticket Holders of the Game: Ken Linde (McHenry, Ill.), Ron Stauter (Madison, Wis.), Nicole and Nathan Grede (Chicago, Ill.), Vernon Molbreak (Madison, Wis.), Chuck Halverson (Dodgeville, Wis.), Rob Inveiss (Zionsville, Ind.) and Jack McCoy (Darlington, Wis.).
In 2013, the UW Athletic Department also introduced its first-ever Fan Advisory Board. This venture was designed to foster a productive dialogue between the Badgers and season ticket holders to continue efforts to enhance the fan experience. Members of the board had the opportunity to contribute ideas, opinions and feedback on a range of issues and topics.
An impressive 18 out of 23 UW sports reached their respective national tournament, highlighted by Final Four runs from men's basketball, volleyball and women's hockey. You, Badgers fans, are a big part of that success. Thank you for your support... On, Wisconsin!
