Monday was a busy day out at University Ridge Golf Course with more than 30 former Badger athletes reuniting for the 2009 Legends of Wisconsin Golf Classic. This annual event pairs Badger Fund donors with some of the biggest names in Wisconsin athletics for a round of golf, lunch and great conversation about UW athletics. There was a lengthy list of UW legends at the event, including former basketball, hockey and football players along with a former Badger Olympic track and field athlete. Joe Thomas, Adam Burish, Brian Butch, Suzy Favor-Hamilton, Owen Daniels and Jim Leonhard were just a few of the legends at this years event. A number of Badger head coaches including Lisa Stone, Mike Eaves, Todd Oehrlein and Mark Johnson also golfed at the classic.
Before the legends and donors took to the course, they had the unique opportunity to receive a free clinic from PGA veterans Andy North and Jerry Kelly. The clinic lasted for more than 30 minutes and a question and answer session with the golf pros followed.
Lunch followed the clinic and despite the cloudy skies, the legends and donors were on the course promptly at 1 p.m. for the shotgun start.
