Exceptional Driver Contest May 19

University Ridge Golf Course will be hosting one of the 128 local qualifying events for the 2007 Exceptional Driver Championship (EDC) on the weekend of May 19th.

Amateur golfers are invited to compete to see who the best driver in their city and who will earn a spot in the EDC finals in Laughlin, Nevada. The 2007 PEDC champion earns $100,000.

Qualifying begins at 10:00 a.m. and concludes at 4:00 p.m. The competition is for amateur golfers only. The entry fee is $20 for each try. EDC competitors receive a two ball sampler of Pinnacle golf balls and a hat.

Golfers hit five drives per entry, with their cumulative score determining their place in the final standings. A golfer who hits all five balls in the grid will receive a bonus ball to try to improve his or her score. In case of ties, a sudden-death playoff will take place to see who advances to the EDC finals in Laughlin.

"We're excited to be part of the first-phase qualifying for this exciting new national competition," said Mike Urben, general manager at University Ridge. "We're excited a golfer from our area will make it to the EDC National finals. We have a big golfing community here in the Madison area; we are very excited to have a chance to send someone to the big show.
