MADISON, Wis. - The day-to-day responsibilities of several members of the University of Wisconsin Department of Athletics' senior staff have been re-structured, Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez announced Friday.

"The recent departures of Shawn Eichorst and Steve Waterfield from our senior staff leave opportunities for others and I'm very confident in those who make up our new management structure," Alvarez said. "We will continue to evaluate job responsibilities in the weeks and months ahead and make additional adjustments where necessary."

Senior associate athletic director Sean Frazier has been promoted to deputy athletic director and will serve as the department's chief of staff. He will also add sport administrator duties for men's basketball, liaison to the Chancellor's office and strategic planning to his list of responsibilities. Frazier already serves as the men's and women's hockey administrator, in addition to overseeing facilities, food and beverage and event management.

Assistant athletic director Doug Tiedt, who has managed academic services as a department head the past several years, will join the senior staff and have responsibilities for overseeing that department, along with compliance, sports medicine and strength and conditioning.

Longtime associate athletic directors Terry Gawlik and John Chadima were promoted to senior associate athletic director roles. Gawlik will add administrative oversight of men's and women's swimming to her duties. Gawlik is the department's senior woman administrator and sport administrator for volleyball, women's basketball, softball and men's and women's crew. Chadima oversees major capital projects, University Ridge Golf Course and is the sport administrator for football, men's and women's golf and wrestling. He is also UW Athletics' liaison to Adidas.

Assistant athletic director Justin Doherty was promoted to associate athletic director and he will add administrative responsibility for men's and women's soccer, as well as serve as liaison for trademark and licensing and oversee open records requests, to his duties. Doherty already serves as the sport administrator for men's and women's track and cross country, in addition to overseeing athletic communications, marketing, website services, video services and serving as liaison to Badger Sports Properties and the Big Ten Network.

Associate athletic directors Marija Pientka and Randy Marnocha round out the senior staff's new makeup. Pientka oversees athletic development, the ticket office and spirit squad. She also is the sport administrator for men's and women's tennis and serves as liaison to the UW Foundation, Wisconsin Alumni Association and UW Marching Band. Marnocha oversees the business office, financial master plan, technical services and human resources, in addition to serving as the new liaison to Bucky's Locker Room.
