This Week in Badger Athletics: April 28 - May 4

This Week:
The Badgers (30-15, 12-5) host #19 Nebraska (36-13, 14-4) in a doubleheader on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Goodman Diamond. Wisconsin then will hit the road to face #3/4 Michigan (39-9, 17-3) this weekend in Ann Arbor.

Last Week: Wisconsin extended its winning streak to 13 games with a sweep of Purdue at home.

Need to Know: Michelle Mueller won her second Big Ten Player of the Week award after hitting .713 and knocking in four runs last weekend. Mueller also slugged her 11th home run of the year in the Badgers sweep of the Boilermakers.

Friday and Sunday's games can be heard online on MGoBlue.com, while Saturday's 6:30 p.m. tilt vs. Michigan will air live on BTN. This Week:
The Badgers will travel to Columbia, Missouri, to take on Missouri in a dual meet for the second time this year on Saturday. UW will also send athletes this weekend to the Payton Jordan Invitational at Stanford on Sunday.

Last Time Out: Junior Michael Lihrman finished second overall in the hammer throw at the Triton Invitational last week in San Diego, Calif., but first among collegians, with a heave of 214-6.

Need to Know: Senior Mohammed Ahmed will open up his outdoor season this weekend in the 5000 meters at the Payton Jordan Invite.

This Week:
Wisconsin will split its forces once again, as a majority of the Badgers will compete in a dual meet against Missouri on Saturday in Columbia, Mo., while a few runners will head west for the Payton Jordan Invitational on Sunday

Last Time Out: Molly Hanson finished second in the seeded 1500 at the Drake Relays with a personal-best time of 4:19.98.

Need to Know: Gabi Anzalone, Molly Hanson, Sarah Disanza and Emma-Lisa Murphy will all compete at the Payton Jordan Invite on Sunday.

This Week: 
The Badgers compete in the 72-hole Big Ten Men’s Golf Championship on the Pete Dye course in French Lick, Ind., on May 2-4.

Last Week: UW wrapped up regular season play tying for ninth with a 35-over par 306-291-302—899 at the 54-hole Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa.

Need to Know: Wisconsin recorded a season 54-hole best 288-299-295--882 at the USF Invitational March 2-4. UW also recorded its season 18-hole best of 288 and 36-hole season-low of 587. All members of the team have set or tied career marks this season. 24 marks have been set or tied

This Week:
The 15th-ranked Badger men’s rowers race Saturday for the Jablonic Cup against 10th-ranked Boston University, while on Sunday, UW takes on No. 8 Northeastern. Both races take place in Boston.

Last Week: UW was off from racing, but made its debut the week before, racing against No. 1 California, No. 11 Stanford and No. 14 Oregon State in California, while also sweeping Minnesota and Milwaukee School of Engineering on Lake Mendota.

This Week: 
Fourth-ranked Wisconsin takes to the Cooper River on Sunday in Cherry Hill, N.J., for the 2014 Eastern Association of Women’s Rowing Colleges (EAWRC) Sprints, which serves the program as its conference championship.

Last Week: The Badgers took the weekend off, but raced at the Boston Round Robin the week prior, defeating then-No. 4 Boston University, among other crews.

Need to Know: The UW women’s lightweight eight has captured eight EAWRC or Eastern Sprints, with the most recent coming just two years ago in 2012.

This Week:
The 15th-ranked Badgers compete on Sunday at Minnesota, which is receiving votes in the latest Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association/USRowing Coaches Poll.

Last Week: The Badgers were off from competition after seemingly finding their form the prior week with a strong finish at the Clemson Invite.

Need to Know:The Badges and Golden Gophers will compete in the fourth annual race for the Burnin’ Blade, which goes to the winner of the varsity eight race between the two schools.
