MADISON, Wis. -- Garrett Broom joined the University of Wisconsin Athletic Department's development staff in March 2014.
As the Director of Development, Broom's primary focus is on major gift identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for facility projects, endowments, and annual donors. Broom maintains a portfolio of 150 major gift donors and prospects. In addition to this major gift role, he also provides donor service in all aspects of the development program including annual fund, suites/club seats, facility campaigns, and endowments.
Prior to arriving at Wisconsin, Broom acquired widespread experience within intercollegiate athletics. From 2012-14, he served as an Assistant Director of Development with the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation at the University of Mississippi.
From 2011-12, he served as Development Assistant with the Golden Gopher Fund at the University of Minnesota. Broom also spent two years in the private sector in retail banking from 2006-08.
Broom also volunteered at several major collegiate events including the ESPN Charleston Classic, ESPN Beef O'Brady's Bowl, and worked with Florida Atlantic University Athletics.
A native of Flushing, Mich., Broom earned his MBA from Webber International University (Fla.) in 2011. While at Webber, Broom served as the graduate assistant men's soccer coach. Broom earned his undergraduate degree from Siena Heights University (Mich.) in 2006, where he was a four-year letter winner for the varsity soccer team.
Broom and his wife Katie reside in Madison.
