Academic All-Big Ten - Winter 2010

MADISON, Wis. -- A total of 23 student-athletes from the University of Wisconsin have earned Academic All-Big Ten honors for the winter season, the league announced Wednesday.

Six members each from the Badgers’ men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as nine members of the swimming and diving programs and a pair of wrestlers picked up the academic honor.

Wisconsin’s six Academic All-Big Ten honorees in men’s basketball matched Purdue for the highest total in the league.

A total of 536 student-athletes were named to the Academic All-Conference Team, including five who boasted perfect 4.0 grade-point averages.

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.
