MADISON, WIS. - The UW Athletic Department concluded the 2010-11 Athletic Luncheon Series last week by featuring local PGA player Steve Stricker as well as Big Ten Network President Mark Silverman. The Athletic Luncheon Series was introduced last fall as the newest exclusive donor opportunity and featured leaders from within the world of athletics.
“We are pleased the Athletic Luncheon Series was well received by our donors and are appreciative of the many leaders that spoke at the luncheons this year.” said Barry Alvarez.
In addition to Stricker and Silverman, the Athletic Luncheon Series featured Big Ten Conference Commissioner Jim Delany, President of Neinas Sports Services Chuck Neinas, and Big Ten Conference Coordinator of Football Officials Bill Carollo.
The luncheons also provided a chance for guests to hear from current Badger head coaches Bret Bielema, Mark Johnson and Mike Eaves as well as former Badger greats including current NFL Vice President of Player Development Troy Vincent and current New York Jet Jim Leonhard.
The University of Wisconsin Athletic Department is a financially self-sustaining entity that annually funds the scholarships and facility needs of the nearly 800 student-athletes in 23 sports. The generosity of individuals who annually contribute to Wisconsin Athletics is critical to remain competitive both within the Big Ten Conference and nationally. Donors to Wisconsin Athletics provide Badger student-athletes the opportunity to achieve success in the classroom, in competition, and in the community.
In addition to impacting the lives of student-athletes representing the University of Wisconsin, donors to UW Athletics are provided with various benefits including priority for requesting season and single game tickets and invitations to exclusive events featuring Badger coaches such as the Athletic Luncheon Series.
