Camp Randall Memorial Sports Center
(The Shell)
The Wisconsin men's track and field team hosted the 1999 Big Ten
Indoor Championship at its indoor home, the Camp Randall Memorial
Sports Center on Feb. 20-21. Also known as the "Shell," it is located
next to Camp Randall Stadium and adjacent to the McClain Facility.
The UW hosted the indoor conference championship in 1993 as well.
The Badgers also host the Badger Track Classic each year, the first
meet of the year for Wisconsin, held on Jan. 15-16.
Completely resurfaced for 1996, the Shell now offers a 200-meter
Martin Surfacing encapsulated urethane track. The $800,000 project
included making wider turns, an added jump pit and a new competitive
pole vault area. Wisconsin athletes currently hold 12 different
Camp Randall Memorial Sports Center records.
During the indoor season, Wisconsin practices on the indoor field
located in the McClain Center, along with the 200-meter track in
the Shell. The Badgers also use the McClain field as a pre-meet
warm-up area.
