The Kohl Center Photo Tour
Outside the Kohl CenterThe area immediately surrounding the Kohl Center features 80 new trees of eight different species and 100,000 square feet of green grass. An 80 foot wide plaza at the main entrance is available for outdoor events. The outside parking area also includes 61 bicycle racks accommodating up to 122 bicycles. Kohl Center PromenadeThe light sculpture, "Kohl Center Promenade", is the creation of two University of Wisconsin-Madison art professors. Lead artist Steve Feren, in collaboration with Gail Simpson, has created this work consisting of 12 seventeen-foot tall light towers using concrete, bronze, stainless steel, acrylic, and 2,400 computer-controlled L.E.D.s (Light Emitting Diodes). The artists have stated that the work was designed to create a visually compelling environment that would express the excitement, vitality and celebratory nature of the Kohl Center and those who enjoy the events that take place here. There are a myriad of light effects available, and the public will discover something new with each visit to the Kohl Center. ParkingThe Kohl Center is served by nearly 4,000 spaces in 13 lots within walking distance of the arena. Parking for UW events is largely sold on a season basis with some available for game day parking.
