DURHAM, N.C. - Join Diane Nordstrom of Wisconsin Athletic Communications Office as she chronicles all of the action from tonight's volleyball match at No. 17 Duke. The Badgers and Blue Devils serve off at 6 p.m. CT from Cameron Indoor Stadium on the campus of Duke University. The blog should begin at 6:30 p.m. depending upon the length of tonight's first match.

We're back at Carmeron Indoor Stadium for the final match of the 2011 Duke Invitational. Wisconsin (1-1) and 17th-ranked Duke (2-0) will first serve in about 30 minutes.

This match is a little late in getting started since the previous match between Furman and Charleston Southern went to four sets with Furman winning. The Paladins will finish the tournament 2-1 while the Lady Buccaneers will be 0-3.

Wisconsin dropped a 3-1 match to Furman this morning with lots of lineup changes so I'm not sure who will be starting tonight. The Badgers also faced a tough Furman defense so we'll see if they can make adjustments tonight.

Duke was 27-7 last season and advanced to the elite eight of the NCAA tournament. The Blue Devils defeated High Point, Ohio and Missouri before losing to Penn State in the regional final.

Duke returns four starters + its libero from last year's team. Leading the way is reigning ACC player of the year Kellie Catanach. The senior setter averaged 11.26 assists per set last season.

Senior Sophia Dunworth, a 6-1 middle/outside, was an NCAA all-tournament honoree last season. She averaged 2.98 kills and 0.96 blocks per set last season.

Wisconsin leads the series with Duke 3-2 though the Blue Devils won the last meeting in 2009, a 3-2 victory in Madison. This is the return visit from the Blue Devils trip to Madison. UW has not played in Cameron since 2002.

The Furman was a very good defensive team and that the Badgers needed to adjust a little faster to their offense. Also need to work on blocking and improve the team's work ethic and intensity.

Overall, I would say the team was upset about the loss but knows that it has improvements to make. I think they're pretty fired up to play their first ranked team.

The Blue Devils are very comparable to the Badgers in height - 9 players at 6-0 or taller but are definitely more experienced. Duke has a senior setter as well as two other seniors that start.

Several parents are here - the Ordings, Hickeys and Mr. Graff. A few other fans in red but not too many. Since school is not in session, the team is staying here all week. Wisconsin plays at N.C. State next weekend so they'll go there to train on Monday.

My overall take - the Badgers saw a lot of improvement over the weekend. I think the 6-2 very well tonight vs. the 17th-ranked team in the country. With three freshmen on the court almost the entire time, this team is only going to get better the more they play together. I like the fact they really stepped up their game against a very good Duke team. that will be good preparation for the Big Ten.
