WCHA title in sight but not secured

With six games remaining in the regular season, Wisconsin holds a 16-point lead in the WCHA standings. However, because wins are worth three points on the women's side of the WCHA, 18 points are still up for grabs and the Badgers have not clinched the WCHA regular season title.

That being said, the league's regular season trophy is in sight for the No. 1-ranked Badgers. UW needs just two points to establish an insurmountable lead in the conference race; Wisconsin is one win away from securing its third regular season league title and first since the 2006-07 season.

With a win in regulation or overtime on Friday, Wisconsin would have 61 points and maintain at least a 16-point lead in the standings, depending on the outcome of other league games on Friday. With only five league games remaining after Friday night, the most points any team could compile would be 15, making the Badgers' 16-point lead insurmountable.

With a shootout win on Friday, Wisconsin would have 60 points and clinch at least a share of the WCHA regular season title. The Badgers could also clinch all or part of the title with a loss on Friday, depending on the results of St. Cloud State at Minnesota and North Dakota at Ohio State.
