DES MOINES. - Please join Diane Nordstrom of the Wisconsin Athletic Communications office as she chronicles the Badgers' (2-7) game at Drake (5-2) in UW coach Lisa Stone's first return trip to her former university.

The blog is interactive so be sure to chime in with comments and questions and vote in the polls. The live blog will start at 6:30 p.m. The game begins at 7 p.m. from the Knapp Center on the Drake University campus.

The Badgers arrived in Des Moines late yesterday afternoon and practiced on Wednesday in the arena. The team also had a shootaround today.

There are several stories to tonight's game with the biggest one being Coach Lisa Stone's return to Drake, where she was the head coach for three years before coming to Wisconsin in 2003. Stone was 64-27 from 2000-03 leading the Bulldogs to an appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2001. She was named the Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the year that season.

In 2002, Drake advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament. Coach Stone said the banner from that season was one of the first things she looked at when entering the arena yesterday.

UW's director of operations Stephanie (Schmitz) Janke was the starting point guard for Bulldog team under Stone. Janke ended her career ranked third in assists, fourth in steals and fifth in 3-point field goals made.

Wisconsin is also looking to snap a seven-game losing streak. Drake did not qualify for post-season play in 2010, a break from the Badgers playing seven-straight post-season teams.

The Bulldogs are undermanned with only eight players in uniform tonight. Five players are not suited up due to injury but Drake still has its top two players available. Senior Kristin Turk, a 5-9 guard, leads the team with 19.9 points per game while shooting 52.2 percent.

The Badgers will be at full strength again today but Coach Stone she expects both Tiera Stephen and Cassie Rochel to see more playing time tonight. Wisconsin needs to cut down on turnovers and watch their fouls tonight. UW is averaging 23 TOs per game its last two games and is also getting hurt by the number of fouls.

Wisconsin has an impressive rebounding performance at Oklahoma State last Sunday, outrebounding the Cowgirls 46-37 and also held OSU to only 22.8 percent from the field.

The Bulldogs are coached by Amy Stephens, who is 118-99 in her eighth season. Drake is picked to finish seventh in the Missouri Valley preseason poll after tying for seventh last season. The Bulldogs were 15-15 last year, returning 11 letterwinners and three starters.
