EVANSTON, Ill. - The Wisconsin wrestling team enters the second and final day of the 48th annual Midlands Championships in second place with 58.5 points. Lehigh currently holds the top spot with 65.0 points while Iowa sits in third place with 52.5.

Redshirt sophomore Tyler Graff (133 lbs.), redshirt sophomore Cole Schmitt (149 lbs.), junior Andrew Howe (165 lbs.) and junior Travis Rutt (184 lbs.) are still in contention for the titles in their respective weight classes, while redshirt sophomore Ben Jordan (174 lbs.) is still vying for third place.

Allison Metcalf from the Wisconsin Athletics Communications office will provide updates throughout the second day on this page beginning at 12 p.m. (CT).

Note: These updates reflect what the scoreboard reads at the end of the match, but check back to UWBadgers.com at the end of the day for the official results bracket.

12:00 p.m. - Day two of the Midlands begins with consolation matches. The tournament only has four mats on the floor today after having six matches going on at once yesterday. Redshirt sophomore Ben Jordan (174 lbs.) is the only Badgers still in the wrestlebacks and will be the first representative from the Cardinal and White to compete today. No. 10 seed Jordan is slated to face No. 6 seed Rutgers' Alex Caruso after defeating Cal Poly's Dominic Kastl, 9-3, in his final match last night.

12:06 p.m. - The championship semifinals will take place after a round of consolation competition. After recording a 23-6 tech fall (3:36) over Riders' Jimmy Kircher last night, redshirt sophomore No. 1 seed Tyler Graff takes on No. 4 seed Scott Sentes (Central Michigan) in the semifinals at 133 lbs. Redshirt sophomore No. 6 seed Cole Schmitt captured a 17-6 major decision over Case's Isaac Dukes last night and is slated to square off against Northwestern's No. 2 seed Andrew Nadhir. Lehigh's No. 2 seed Robert Hamlin will face Wisconsin junior No. 3 seed Travis Rutt at 184 lbs. and UW No. 1 seed Andrew Howe matches up against No. 5 seed Zach Toal of Missouri to wrap up the Badgers competing in the 2010 Midlands Championships' semifinals.

12:23 p.m. - There are currently some intense matches going on at 141 lbs. and 149 lbs. and like I said, next on tap for the Badgers is 174-pounder Ben Jordan, who is still in contention for third place. There are more fans today in Welsh-Ryan Arena with a few high school teams in stands watching the action. It looks like there is quite a bit of black and yellow in the stands cheering for Iowa, but plenty of Badger red representing Wisconsin as well.

12:34 p.m. - Ben Jordan is still waiting for his mat assignment, but he is officially out on the sidelines warming up. With the six-mat format yesterday, the wrestles had to most of the pre-match warm-ups in the hallways but with only four mats today they are able to warm-up on the sidelines while simultaneously watching the ongoing matches.

12:37 p.m. - It was just announced that Ben Jordan will battle Alex Caruso (Rutgers) on Mat 4, so it looks like Jordan will be back in action soon. As most of you know, Jordan needs to win this match to have a chance to place in the top eight.

1:02 p.m. - Ben Jordan is now on the mat for the Badgers, facing another red singlet in Rutgers' Alex Caruso. After the first minute of the bout, the score is tied at 0-0.

1:03 p.m. - Just a side note: The Badgers have placed in the top 10 in the Midlands Championships 18 times.

1:08 p.m. - Entering the third period, Rutgers' Caruso leads Jordan, 4-2.

1:11 p.m. - No. 10 seed Ben Jordan's journey to third place is now over after falling to No. 6 seed Rutgers' Alex Caruso, 6-2 in the wrestlebacks at 174 lbs. Stay tuned as Graff (133 lbs.), Cole Schmitt (149 lbs.), Andrew Howe (165 lbs.) and Travis Rutt (184 lbs.) are still in the running for the 2010 Midlands Championships title in their respective weight classes.

1:34 p.m. - No. 1 seed Tyler Graff (133 lbs.) is next on tap for the Badgers in the semifinals against No. 4 Scotti Sentes (Central Michigan). There are no Badgers on the floor right now, but there is a great semifinal matchup on mat 2 at 125 lbs. going on right now. No. 1 seed Iowa's Matt McDonough leads Standford's No. 5 seed Ryan Mango, 3-0 with 51 seconds left in the second frame.

1:41 p.m. - Iowa's McDonough came out victorious over Stanford's Ryan Mango at 125 lbs. Tyler Graff is now on the mat with No. 4 Scotti Sentes (Central Michigan) at 133 lbs. With just over 1:30 left in the first period, Graff leads Sentes, 2-0.

2:52 p.m. - Now on Mat 2 is No. 3 seed Travis Rutt v. No. 2 seed Robert Hamlin (Lehigh) in an 184-pound semifinal match.
