Three future Badgers have been invited to Canada's National Women's Under-18 Team selection camp slated for Dec. 17-19 at the MasterCard Center in Toronto, Ontario.
Forward Katy Josephs (Calgary, Alberta), forward Blayre Turnbull (Stellarton, Nova Scotia) and defenseman Katarina Zgraja (Waterloo, Ontario) are among 31 players invited to the selection camp. The trio all signed National Letter of Intents to attend the University of Wisconsin and play hockey for the Badgers beginning in the 2011-12 season.
During the three-day camp, 20 players will be chosen to represent Canada at the 2011 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Women's Under-18 Championship, set for Jan. 1-8, 2011 in Stockholm, Sweden. The selection camp will include a series of practices and inter-squad games.
Josephs, Turnbull and Zgraja are among the 22 members of the National Women's Under-18 Team that played the United States in a three-game series in August that were invited to the selection camp. The camp roster includes three goaltenders, 10 defensemen and 18 forwards.
Karley Sylvester (Warroad, Minn.), the fourth member of Wisconsin's next incoming class, has already been named to the U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team for the IIHF World Women's Under-18 Championship.
