Wrestling staff shares Thanksgiving plans

UWBadgers.com caught up with some of the coaches and staff members of the Wisconsin wrestling program to find out what they are doing for Thanksgiving.

Wisconsin associate head coach Donny Pritzlaff, assistant coach Jared Frayer, program assistant Sandy Berndt and Wisconsin wrestling athletic training Jesse Donnenwerth shared their Thanksgiving plans, favorite traditional Thanksgiving dish and more.

UWBadgers.com: What are your Thanksgiving plans?

Frayer:
"I am staying in town with my wife, who is expecting. I will also be helping her cook. I am having some of the guys on the team over as well as Jesse (Donnenwerth) for turkey and stuffing and all of the good Thanksgiving food. I am pretty excited because Jesse is a world renowned cook and he is making a corn casserole."

Donnenwerth:
"I am going to Coach Frayer's. I am pretty excited to eat food there."

Berndt: "My entire husband's side of the family is coming over. There are 23 of us that I will be cooking for. Then we will eat, put a puzzle together, watch some games on TV and fall asleep."

Pritzlaff: "My family and I are going to (my home state of) New Jersey for Thanksgiving this year for the first time ever to see my mom, dad and my sister and her family."

UWBadgers.com: What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish?

Donnenwerth:
"Definitely the stuffing."

Berndt
: "Probably the apple pie. I am not a pumpkin pie lover so I really like having apple pie on Thanksgiving."

Frayer: "I will have to agree with Jesse on this one. I love stuffing. I especially love putting it on a cold turkey sandwich later in the day."

Pritzlaff:
"Pumpkin pie is my favorite part of the meal--pumpkin pie with a little bit of homemade whipped cream."

UWBadgers.com: What is your favorite thing about Thanksgiving?

Donnenwerth: "It means wrestling season is here. I don't have an opportunity to go home and spend time with my family, so the guys in the wrestling program are my family during Thanksgiving."

Berndt: "It's not the food because I have to make it (chuckles). I think that my favorite thing about Thanksgiving is after the meal, when everyone relaxes together and watches television and falls asleep."

Pritzlaff:
"I would say the food. The food is definitely my favorite part about Thanksgiving."

Frayer: "My favorite thing about Thanksgiving is reminiscing about good times and just giving thanks for the reasons that we're here and not taking for granted the all of the blessings that we have in life."
