What is the women's hockey team thankful for?

With the Thanksgiving holiday this week, UWBadgers.com talked to the women's hockey team to find out what the Badgers are thankful for this year.

"I'm thankful for the opportunity to play hockey with my sister at a great university!"
- Brooke Ammerman

"I am thankful for my sister Brooke Lindsey Ammerman and Skinny Vanilla Lattes from Starbucks for getting me through my "study" hours a.k.a. chowing down on banana bread at Starbucks."
- Brittany Ammerman

"This Thanksgiving I am very thankful to be a part of such an amazing hockey team and organization. I am also thankful for everyone who has helped to get me here today."
- Natalie Berg

"I am thankful for two loving guys in my life that travel so well ... thank you Darren and Nicholas for being such faithful supporters of Mommy/Coach Tracey and Badger Hockey."
- Assistant coach Tracey DeKeyser

"I am thankful for all soldiers deployed throughout the world. I am thankful for what these men and women have done to ensure that I am able to enjoy a peaceful Thanksgiving in a safe place with my family while their families celebrate without them. I am thankful for the families whose loved ones are deployed, and for those deployed throughout the world, and I hope they have a blessed Thanksgiving this year wherever they may be."
- Madison Packer

"I am thankful for Dennis Helwig, our team trainer, for keeping our team on the ice and healthy!"
- Geena Prough

"I am thankful for my two best friends back home in Edmonton, Alberta, Lindsay and Paula. Even though I am far away from them, they still support me and keep in touch with me. Both Lindsay and Paula do so much for me and I appreciate it more than words can describe.  I love them so, so much!"
- Saige Pacholok

"I'm thankful for our athletic facilities."
- Brianna Decker

"I am thankful for each and every day, my health, my family and all my friends that seem to equip themselves with a pretty good sense of humor."
- Assistant coach Mark Greenhalgh

"I am thankful for my brother, Tyler, who is my best friend, hero, and inspiration...and truly a blessing from God."
- Becca Ruegsegger

"I am thankful that my group project for my professional communications class is finally done. We've been working on it since the beginning of the semester."
- Nikki Kaasa

"I am thankful for Paul Hickman. He is the best man-mom I have ever had. He puts up with all us girls, and still has a smile on his face!"
- Laurel Miller

"I am thankful for the Jumbotron at the Kohl Center which allows all of us Badgers and our audience to re-enjoy the great plays of the game, makes celebs out of those who shine on the ice, zooms in on our coaches, our fans, and of course Bucky, displays the score and penalties, which in turn cues us for count downs and when to ask Phil for ice cream, and gives us the big-screen incentive not to flub up during the game for all to see over and over again! Not to mention, the ongoing display of my Broadway debut singing my own rendition of the "Happy Birthday!" Last but not least, we love seeing Saige blow kisses, Rigby's epic hair flip, and Prevy's air bow and arrow!"
- Carla Pentimone

"I am thankful for my family. They are my rock. They do everything they can to support me and push me to reach my goals and dreams. I am forever thankful to have you all in my life. Thank you for the love you give me every single day... I am so lucky. I love all you so much."
- Lauren Unser

"First on a serious note, I am thankful to have been born in Canada/North America where as a society we grow up with the mentality that we can accomplish whatever we want and if we don't like something we can change it. After living in the Czech Republic for two years I can see the difference in the way North Americans' outlook on life. Mentality is changing in the Eastern Block of Europe, but I am so grateful I was raised in a belief system where we can reach for the stars and where we are not limited on what we can accomplish in life. Second, I am grateful for a dishwasher. I have not had one for about five years. It is an amazing invention!"
- Assistant coach Jackie Friesen

"I am thankful for my scooter for making it possible for me to get to class and practice somewhat on time. But in a serious note, I am thankful for my family and coaches over the years for all the support they have given me. They are the ones who have made it possible for me to play for Wisconsin."
- Alex Rigsby

"I am thankful that there has not been ANY snow yet here in Madison, and it's already Thanksgiving!"
- Kelly Nash

"I'm thankful for my second family out here in Wisconsin, the Vetters, for taking me in for a Thanksgiving meal."
- Meghan Duggan
