Blog: Badgers travel on Thanksgiving

While most people are spending time with their friends and family on Thanksgiving, the Wisconsin women's basketball team is preparing for two games this weekend.

As the team was en route to the West Coast for the Concord Hilton Thanksgiving Classic in Moraga, Calif., UWBadgers.com caught up with some of the players and coaches to find out what they are thankful for.

Wisconsin assistant coach Oties Epps: "I am thankful for my family and for the fellowship that we have among the staff at Wisconsin. I am also thanksful for the opportunity to be a part of the Wisconsin basketball program to help mold these young women into successful women in the future."

Wisconsin head coach Lisa Stone: "I am very thankful for my family and this entire team."

Wisconsin assistant coach Ty Margenthaler: I am thankful for my family and good health. I am also thankful for the opportunity to be around the team."

Wisconsin assistant coach John Barnes: "I am thankful for my family, friends, faith and health."

Senior forward Tara Steinbauer: "This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for my wonderful family and friends. And obviously, my Badger family and all of the wonderful people in my life."

Freshman forward Cassie Rochel: "I am thankful for my family and also the opportunity to play basketball."

Freshman guard Jada Buggs: "I am thankful for my family and friends."

Senior guard Alyssa Karel: "This Thanksgiving I am thankful for my family and friends and my awesome teammates."

Senior forward Lin Zastrow: "This Thanksgiving I am thankful for my family and my wonderful team."

Redshirt senior guard Emily Neal: "I am thankful for my family and my teammates."

Junior forward Ashley Thomas: "I am thankful for my family and friends and the opportunity to be here at the University of Wisconsin."

Sophomore guard Taylor Wurtz: "I am thankful for the opportunity to play basketball. I am also thankful for my family and my Badger family."

Freshman guard Morgan Paige: "I am thankful for my family friends. I am also really thankful for the opportunity to be with my teammates every single day."

The Badgers open competition against BYU on Friday at 8 p.m. (CT) and conclude the weekend against tournament host, St. Mary's on Saturday at 10 p.m. (CT). Both games will be held at McKeon Pavilion.
