Dayton may be a bit outmanned - so young. Let's see if the Flyers can withstand this apparent good start by UW.
Sunday September 19, 2010 3:07 Muffy
3:08
That's true. Dayton is starting four true Freshman. So far UW has held the ball for a majority of the game in the Dayton half.
Sunday September 19, 2010 3:08
3:08
Wisconsin is of course young as well, with five true freshman in today's lineup. But the team has been maturing lately.
Sunday September 19, 2010 3:08

[Comment From gritzgritz: ]
Does UW have a lot of size this year?
Sunday September 19, 2010 3:11 gritz
3:12
It's a good mix. The size is spread out for the Badgers. Guys like Yonga and Nichols have good size. Other guys like Trevor Wheeler, who's only 5-8, get by on quickness. All of our goalkeepers are pretty tall as well.
Sunday September 19, 2010 3:12
3:13
UW 0 - Dayton 0 -- 26:00. Dayton will take a free kick now at midfield.
Sunday September 19, 2010 3:13

Sunday September 19, 2010 3:14

Sunday September 19, 2010 3:30

Sunday September 19, 2010 3:36

Sunday September 19, 2010 3:37
3:37
The ref has some words quick with a Dayton player. They wanted a foul there called on Wheeler.
Sunday September 19, 2010 3:37
3:38
And Colin Mani will pick up a yellow card for Wisconsin. Hard sliding tackle along the sideline.
Sunday September 19, 2010 3:38

Sunday September 19, 2010 3:40
3:41
And the first half will end scoreless.
Sunday September 19, 2010 3:41
3:43
Wisconsin clearly looked like the better team in the first half. The controlled the ball for a long time in the Dayton half, and had a number of scoring attempts off of crosses. A few inches lower on Colin Mani's shot and they would have the lead. Dayton has barely put any pressure on goal, it's been a fairly easy half for UW goalie Ryan Vint.

Sunday September 19, 2010 3:49
3:52
One thing to note for UW is that Coach Trask rewarded senior Bryan Gerster with a start and junior Austin Spohn with an appearance off the bench. With so many new players for UW, it's clear that the older players are still working hard in practice to be an integral part of the team.
Sunday September 19, 2010 3:52
3:52
Even with the change in coaching staff making this a transition year, Coach Trask is clearly playing those that are earning the chance with hard work.

3:53
3 minutes until the start of the second half.
Sunday September 19, 2010 3:53

He has had a good game. Wisconsin has had a number of chances on goal, and he's played very aggressively to cut off opportunities for UW. Ryan Vint has been doing the same thing for UW, which is a big reason this game is scoreless.
