As morning rains gave way to afternoon sun, Fall Camp 2010 officially kicked off Sunday at 3 p.m. when the Badgers gathered in the McClain Center for a meeting with the UW Compliance Office. That was followed by a team meeting to go over the plans and expectations for fall practice. Team dinner was at 5:30 p.m. with another team meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. to do over offensive and defensive goals.

I caught a couple players arriving on their mopeds around 2:15 p.m.:

Defensive tackle Patrick Butrym ...

Nortman_scooter.jpg In addition to them, I also ran into Jay Valai, J.J. Watt and Gabe Carimi. All were very excited to get going. As the elevator doors closed on J.J. and Jay, I overheard Watt ask, "Ready to get at it?" and Valai respond, "You know it, baby!"

The first practice will be held tomorrow beginning at 2:35 p.m. in Camp Randall Stadium. Per NCAA rules, the first two practices are conducted in helmets only. The next three are in helmets and shoulder pads (half-pack) with the Badgers' first full pads practice session on Saturday morning. Saturday is also the first of five two-a-day practice days.

According to weather.com, the forecast high temperatures for Madison will be 85 or higher Monday through Friday. I don't think John Clay will have too many problems shedding that extra five pounds to get down around 250. And good thing Carimi shaved all his hair off (for a good cause ... story coming soon to UWBadgers.com).

Carimi_hair_7.jpgA couple important dates to know as we move through Fall Camp 2010:
Sunday, Aug. 15 - UW Football Media Day (2:30-4 p.m.)
Sunday, Aug. 22 - Football Family Fun Day (3-5 p.m.)

And here's a look at the official 105-man Fall Camp roster.
