WPSL Q&A with Laurie Nosbusch | WPSL Website

Wisconsin junior Laurie Nosbusch (Mequon, Wis.) and sophomores Alyssa Vogel (Germantown, Wis.), Lindsey Johnson (Sussex, Wis.) and Joana Bielefeld (Brookfield, Wis.) will compete for the national Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) title with the FC Milwaukee Nationals (10-1-0) this weekend.

Nosbusch, who captains the Nationals, will lead the Midwest Championship squad against the Boston Aztec Breakers Reservers (10-1-1) in the first WPSL semifinal game on Saturday at 5 p.m. (CT) in Richardson, Texas.

The defensive trio of Vogel, Johnson and Bielefeld along with Nosbusch, a forward, has contributed towards the Nationals' nearly flawless record and recent nine-game winning streak.

Among many other topics, Nosbusch, who was named a co-captain of the 2011 Wisconsin women's soccer squad, discussed the Nationals' early success in its first year of existence at the WPSL level in a detailed Q&A with the WPSL on July 29. In addition, she told WPSL reporters about her strength as a leader and the success she has found under Wisconsin head coach Paula Wilkins and Christian Lavers, the head coach of FC Milwaukee.
Nobusch enters her junior campaign with the Badgers after receiving second-team All-Big Ten and Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors in 2009. The 2010 FC Milwaukee Nationals and UW captain serves as a role model on the field and off as a member of the first- team Academic All-District squad.
