Badgers to honor past football greats on 2010 program covers

The photo shoots for the 2010 football game program covers took place yesterday on the field at Camp Randall Stadium, all paying homage to former UW greats.

Junior John Clay and seniors Scott Tolzien, Culmer St. Jean and Blake Sorensen all donned their uniforms to take part in the shoot. David Nevala, who shot the covers last year that featured O'Brien Schofield, Mickey Turner, Jaevery McFadden and Garrett Graham, returned for a second year to lend his artistic vision to the shoot. Nevala was aided by his assistant Michael Klinski and Julie Underwood of the National W Club.

Each player's cover was inspired by a former Badger great. Clay did his best Elroy "Crazy Legs" Hirsch impression, while Tolzien took after Dale Hackbart, St. Jean tried his hand at Ed Withers and Sorensen followed in Hal Faverty's footsteps.

All four players were able to complete their shoots in an efficient four total hours on Wednesday, battling the sweltering heat down on the Camp Randall turf.

Not many details will be given away now as the covers will speak for themselves and behind-the-scenes stories and photos will be featured in each issue.

The photos are done, and it is now up to the talents of Nevala, Klinski and Underwood to make the best covers possible. Be sure to pick up your copy at each home game during the 2010 season.
