Hi everyone and welcome to courtside at the Kohl Center as the Badger women's team takes on the No. 7 and recently crowned six-time Big Ten Conference Champion Ohio State Buckeyes. My name is Tam Flarup and I covered the Badgers for over 30 years traveling with the team and doing the media relations. These days I am the home blogger and take care of the UW Web site.

And here I am courtside. Remember the blog is interactive so feel free to send me your comments and questions as the game goes along. The Badgers (18-7, 8-6) met the Buckeyes in the first game of the conference season way last Dec. 6 losing 70-55. But UW led at the half in that game. Seems like such a long time ago. Meanwhile OSU has cruised through the conference season with a 25-3 record and at 13-2 collected an unprecedented sixth consecutive conference title.

For those following UW on Twitter, the game and the UW student organization fair going on right now are being tweeted by @brandon_alan so check it out or feel free to tweet using the hash tag #studentornite.

Over 1,600 students signed up for the #studentorgnite sponsored by UW Athletics, the Center for Learning and Involvement and the Dean of Students office, and we hope they stay for the game.

The Badgers just came out for their warmup. We are 28 minutes to the anthem. Here is some info on the Badgers. The team is currently in a tie for third with MIchigan State with four games remaining. UW is vying to be one of the top 5 teams that will receive a bye in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament March 4-7 in Indianapolis, so a lot is riding on the remaining games.

After hosting the Buckeyes, UW plays its next two games on the road, traveling to Michigan (14-10, 6-8) on Sunday. The Badgers and Wolverines tip at noon CT from Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich. UW also travels to Penn State on Feb. 25 before wrapping up the regular season at home on Feb. 28 vs. Iowa in the finale at 1 p.m. CT.

The Badgers are coming off a 66-58 win last Sunday over Indiana. The Badgers won Sunday's game at the free throw line, going 21-of-28 for the game, including 11-of-14 in the last 1:36. Wisconsin recorded a season swept Indiana for the first time in program history, a 32-year streak.
Thursday February 18, 2010 6:34
6:36
Other games tonight have Illinois at Michigan State; Michigan at Penn State; Minnesota at Iowa; and Indiana at Northwestern. Only two-and-a-half games separate the second through eighth-place teams in the Big Ten.
Thursday February 18, 2010 6:36
6:37

The Badgers' 18 wins this season are the third-most victories for the UW under Coach Lisa Stone and ties for the most regular-season wins. Wisconsin has won eight Big Ten games this season, surpassing its Big Ten win total of 2008-09. Eight conference wins is second for the Badgers under Stone.

Thanks for the comment. Yes, the student org fair was a joint venture by the Dean of Students and the UW Athletic dept. to promote communication and activities among the over 800 organizations at UW and of course to introduce those students to UW women's basketball.
