It's an important night in the Big Ten as the race for the top-five places and a first-round bye in the 2010 Big Ten Tournament are still up for grabs. Only three games separate the second through seventh-place teams.

Ohio State has clinched its sixth-straight Big Ten title with a 14-3 record and Michigan State has moved into second at 10-6. Wisconsin and Purdue are tied for third at 9-7 while Penn State and Iowa are tied for fifth at 8-8. Northwestern is currently seventh at 7-9.

looking at the bracketology updates does wisconsin need to win these final two games and do well in the big ten tournament to insure themselves of not just making the tounament but getting a good seed with potential for advancement in the NCAA's

Diane:
Right now, Wisconsin is picked as an eight seed by most of the bracketologists. Unfortunately, that pits you against a No. 1 seed in the second round. Two wins this week would certainly improve the Badgers NCAA chances.

Diane:
Also, UW has never received a first-round bye in the Big Ten Tournament under Coach Lisa Stone. I think that extra day to prepare and not having to play as many games would also help the Badgers. While Wisconsin made it to the semifinals of the tournament last year, they ran out of gas against Purdue, which was their third game of the tourney.
