MBB: UW vs. Duke gameday blog(12/02/2009)

Hello Badger fans and welcome to the Kohl Center! We've got a big game about to start here featuring Wisconsin and No. 6 Duke as part of this year's Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

The student section is completely full right now and fans are still filing in as we have just over 20 minutes until tip-off. I'll be here throughout the game to answer any questions and give you play-by-play coverage as best as I can.

I have some big shoes to fill tonight as the normal men's basketball blogger for home games, Brian Mason, is en route to Hawaii with the football team. I know he is sad he couldn't be here for the game tonight but I'm sure he will be happy to be in Hawaii once he gets off the plane!

Tell me about Jordan Taylor? Like what you have seen from him this year?
Wednesday December 2, 2009 7:55 Keith Jones
7:56
Since this is my first game blogging, I have to be honest and say most of the things I've seen of Jordan Taylor have been on TV this year. He appeared to have a great tournament in Maui and seems to have progressed from his freshman year. He's currently averaging 6.6 points a game off the bench and had a career-high 19 points against Gonzaga.
Wednesday December 2, 2009 7:56
7:58
I expect the Kohl Center to get loud tonight. The student section was filling up an hour before the game and like I said before, is completely full. Unfortunately there's some Duke blue in there but I also see Santa Clause a green hippo and some other creatures. If you're watching ESPN, I'm sure you will see the student section quite a few times tonight.

Wednesday December 2, 2009 8:02
8:04
The Big Ten/ACC Challenge has been away from the Kohl Center for quite some time. This is the first time in three years that the Badgers will host a game in the challenge. Wisconsin has won its last three games against ACC foes, beating Virginia Tech in last year's challenge, Floriday State in the 2009 NCAA Tournament and most recently, defeating Maryland out in Maui.
Wednesday December 2, 2009 8:04
8:07
As usual, Duke is out to a great start at 6-0 and ranked No. 6 in the AP poll, No. 5 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll.

Add two more...Bohannon with a nice drive to the hoop for an easy two. Place is getting loud...but that quiets it as Duke drains a 3 on the other end.

Back and forth game we have so far.

Wednesday December 2, 2009 8:25

Duke puts up a bucket in the paint on the in-bounds, rolls out and then Lance Thomas whistled for a foul...Badgers' ball.
Wednesday December 2, 2009 8:25

Great defense by Leuer in the post forcing a bad shot by Duke...but then he goes down and fires a 3...no good.

Scheyer adds two more for Duke.
Wednesday December 2, 2009 8:26
8:27

Trevon with two more from the elbow...all five starters have at least 3 points for Wisconsin. Duke can't miss either though as Singler adds two more...he has six.
Wednesday December 2, 2009 8:31
8:32
Badgers get a second chance opportunity on that last posession but come up empty...Hughes tried to draw a foul, missed but Leuer was there for the rebound...couldn't get the points.

Wisconsin now whistled for its third foul and Singler makes the first free throw.

Offensive foul now against Zoubek. Wisconsin has 4 fouls and just 2 for Duke...Taylor tried to lob one into Ryan Evans who was gunning for the basket, looking to dunk but a Duke player broke it up. Can he be credited with a pass breakup? Different sport...
Wednesday December 2, 2009 8:40
8:41
Leuer puts up a shot with the clock winding down, no good, Evans tries to go for the ball but whistled for a foul. Bohannon checks back in for Jordan Taylor.
