UW is coming off a 68-38 win over SIU-Edwardsville Sunday. It was Lisa Stone's 100th win of her career at Wisconsin. Stone is now 100-94 (.515) in her seventh year at the UW. She is the third Badger coach to win 100 games. Stone joins Jane Albright (161-107 in nine years) and Edwina Qualls (131-141 in 10 years).

6:38
The Badgers dominated all the stats against the Cougars collecting 45 points in the first half and holding the opponent to just 18, the eighth lowest for an opponent in a half in school records. Junior Tara Steinbauer recorded her third double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 rebounds. It was the fifth double-double of her career.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 6:38
6:38

All 13 eligible players saw playing time for the Badgers, including walk-on Aly Bucierka. The 5-7 guard scored her first career points, going 1-of-2 from the free throw line. She also had one rebound.

For those of you unfamilar with Robert Morris the school is located Moon Township just outside of Pittsburgh, Pa. They play in the Northeast Conference. They were 13-18 last season. They just lost to Marquette Sunday, 67-59.

This is the last game before finals which start tomorrow, and the holiday break. The Badgers will return to action Monday, Dec. 28, in a Big Ten game at the Kohl Center with the visiting Spartans of Michigan State. The Big Ten season started early this year with all teams but Illinois already playing one game. UW lost 70-55 at Ohio State Dec. 6 and is 0-1 in the conference.

Tuesday December 15, 2009 6:58

Badger starters are Tara Steinbauer, Alyssa Karel, Rae Lin D'Alie, Teah Gant and Lin Zastrow.

Robert Morris is starting: Angel Pace, Kristine Silaraja, Bianca Hooten, Vega Gimeno Martinez and Mary Durojaye. The Colonials have four international players on their roster.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:02
7:04
The Badger defense is what UW has hung its hat on the last two years and its showing as the Badgers lead the Big Ten Conference in scoring defense allowing opponents just 53.0 points per game.

Tip to Wisconsin
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:04
7:05
Robert Morris is supposed to play a lot of zone defense tonight, but Alyssa Karel just broke that with a 3-pointer.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:05
7:07
We will have the scoreboard up in just a minute. My assistant was busy with another demand. Off a UW miss RM ((Robert Morris from now on) had it on the run. Shot clock forgot to fire and its RM ball out of bounds on the sideline. Hooten 3 rims out and UW is running.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:07
7:07
Good ball movement but Karel's 3-pointer bounces off the rim.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:07
7:09
Whoops, we had a slight password crisis and I missed two buckets by RM. They lead 4-3 with 16:15 left
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:09
7:11
First media timeout and its RM leading 4-3. UW is 1-4 from the field. Anya Covington is coming in for Tara Steinbauer who just picked up her first foul.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:11
7:12
Steinbauer leads the Big Ten and is 15th in the nation in free throw shooting missing just two all season. She is 29-31 for 93.5 percent.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:12
7:13
Rae Lin with a steal and feed to Karel. UW leads 5-4.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:13
7:15
Badgers are rebounding well and getting the ball down the court. But RM is playing great transition defense and then they get back in their zone. Another 3-point miss by Karel. We need to attack. And as I say that Teah Gant cuts baseline and gets a great pass for Lin for a reverse layup. It's7-4 UW.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:15
7:16
Okay, they are starting to attack the gaps now. Lin had a nice move in the lane but lost it out of bounds. RM is one and done and we are back on offense. Steinbauer just came in for LIn.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:16
7:17
Rae Rae with a ray of sunshine from long distance. Clock running out and she puts up a rainbow. 10-4 Badgers.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:17
7:18
Rae Rae slices and dices her way through traffic for a layin. Time out RM. The Cougars have not scored since 17:04, five minutes ago.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:18
7:20
TIime out did RM good as they convert a 3-pointer, and get the rebound after a Badger miss. They turn it over and it will be Badger ball when teams return from the second media timeout. Badgers lead 12-7 with 11:32 left.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:20
7:21
Badgers are hitting 50 percent from the field (5-10) while RM is 3-9 (.333). Rae Lin and Alyssa both have 5 points each to lead UW.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:21
7:23
Taylor Wurtz is making her first appearance tonight. Anya is called for the TO. A big 6-6 center (Anna Gailite) has entered for RM and hits a baseline jumper. She will make a difference in the lane.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:23
7:24
Colonials show a 3/4 court press and it works. Lin at 6-4 is battling the 6-6 center. Colonials making a little run fueled by Badgers TOs 15-11.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:24
7:25
Rae Lin stops the run with a fast break layup and Karel converts an elbow jumper giving UW a 19-11 cushion.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:25
7:26
Lin made a beautiful baseline move but couldn't finish. Would love to see more of that from her. 7:30 left and its 19-11 Wisconsin.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:26
7:28
UW moved up to 57.1 percent from the field (8-14). The Badgers shot over 60 percent most of the game Sunday with SIUE. Layups sure help but we have attacked the zone well and gotten high percentage shots.

Badgers have led by as much as 8 twice and took the lead they have yet to relinquish at 15;19 of the first half. Lin gets an old fashioned 3point play and its 22-13 Badgers, greatest lead of the game.

We are having single digits in Madison tonight and finals are starting but we still have some members of the UW band. It's a smaller crowd than a Sunday for sure. The number comes after half time.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:33
7:34
Karel with a nice feed to Tara inside and its 24-14, largest lead of the game.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:34
7:36
The way Steinbauer is rebounding she could be looking at another double-double. She has 3 rebounds and two points so far but it seems like more.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:36
7:40

Tara would have had another rebound but was fouled. Badgers run the shot clock down and Rae delivers to Alysssa for 3. 29-14 UW.

Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:40
7:42
UW has looked good against the zone defense making it shift with good cross court passes. UW has run when it could and remained under control. Rae at the line misses both.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:42
7:46
Badgers run the shot clock down and it's D'Alie with another nice assist to Wurtz for a 3-pointer. At the half UW leads 32-17. The 17 points by Robert Morris is the fewest by an opponent this season and is eighth all-time.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:46
7:49
Halftime Stats:
UW: 13-24 fg for 54.2%; 5-8 3pt for 62.5%; 18 reb; 10 asst; 8 TOs

No, the only press was shown by Robert Morris for a couple possessions. Badgers have used their rebounding edge to run on the Colonials.

Tuesday December 15, 2009 7:56 George H.
7:59
They have 8 so far tonight and average 16.4 on the season which is eighth lowest in the conference. They are not really concentrated in any particular area like feed to the post. They just occur sometimes.

Its hard to believe only two fouls called on the Badgers. Maybe Lisa won't get another technical foul called against her.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:00 Dave Badger
8:01

UW has played a clean well-under-control game. The zone defense is helping us too.

Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:01
8:01
Badgers open the second half like they did the first with a bucket by Karel. We have doubled them up 34-17
Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:01
8:03
Turnover no. 9 on Rae, a travel. She's a senior, too. RM scored but is struggling with attempts over the basket on two possessions. TO no. 10 and Lisa calls timeout. I can hear her across the court in the huddle.....something about turnovers!

8:06
I keep trying to see what adjustments the teams have made after the half, but there has been no flow in this game between the turnovers and the fouls by RM
Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:06
8:07
Nice ball movement there with a feed from high post to an attacking Alyssa Karel. She now has 17 points as UW leads 36-23
Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:07
8:08
Anya Covington inside from a driving Rae Lin. Obviously the Badgers talked about continuing to attack the zone and get to the rim.

First media timeout UW leads 38-23.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:08
8:10
Robert Morris has also looked to attack the rim more. Angel Pace has 8 points, four this half. RM is shooting 28.6 percent, a slight improvement. UW dropped below 60 percent at 59.3

a good drill to use if you are have turnovers problems is to practice six or seven on five
Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:10 jr fan
8:11
I have seen Lisa do that drill, although I am not watching practices anymore like I used to. Anya just misses a layin. She doesn't miss many of those. Robert Morris converts and its a 13-point game 38-25.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:11
8:13
Karel hits another 3-pointer and she has 20 points on 8-11 field goal shooting (4-7 3-pointers ties her career highs for makes and attempts).
Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:13
8:14
Wurtz hits a 3-pointer and its 44-25, greatest lead of the game.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:14
8:16
Doing a lot of passing and very little dribbling on offense. Looking good as Wurtz hits another 3. She is 3-of-3 from 3!
Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:16
8:18
Looking up school records now for 3 pointers by the Badgers. We are currently 8-11 on made 3-pointers. Most 3s in a game is 11. Best percentage is 83.3 percent (10-12). We will keep you posted.

Gant hits her first points and UW uses the shot clock again with Rae driving and getting fouled. She misses her first but makes her second and we have doubled them up again 50-25. RM has not scored since 14:43.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:21
8:23

Rae forgetting 5-3 self for a minute, drives on the 6-6 Latvian with an obvious block resulting.

Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:23

Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:24 Bruce B.
8:26
You never really know what some non-conference teams are like from year to year. Robert Morris was supposed to present a good challenge. They only lost to Marquette Sunday by eight points, 67-59. We beat Marquette by only seven points, 56-49. Maybe our defense just took them out of what they can do.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:26
8:27
Third media timeout and its 52-29 Bucky with 6:53 left.

Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:31

Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:34
8:36
Ashley Thomas is entering the game for Anya Covington after the last media timeout. The Badgers are 3-1 in games decided by five points or less, but the remainder of the non-conference schedule has been decided by double digit margins. UW has really grown, especially with all the time spent on the road including those six-straight road contests (5-1 record in that time).
Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:36
8:40
RM hits another 3-pointer and its 58-39. Badger subs entering are Jamie Russell and Emily Neal are entering for the first time tonight as all but one starter sits. Lin Zastrow is still on the floor.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:40

Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:41

Lin goes out. Badgers have a total of 7 fouls in both halves. Fewest of the season and second fewest in a game all-time.
Tuesday December 15, 2009 8:42

Jamie misses a 3-pointer. Don't think we will get the record tonight. Scoring has really tapered off with the starters out and all the different combinations on the floor. 48 seconds left UW leads 61-46
