It's our time

By Michele Dalton, women's soccer goalkeeper

Hello Badger fans! I'm hoping this blog is able to give you some better insight into what it means to be a Wisconsin student-athlete and how it feels to chase an NCAA berth! For us, this is the first time any of us would have an NCAA experience, and for the seniors it is their last shot at this opportunity!

We're all on the bus right now headed to Northwestern for our last Big Ten game. I have to say it's a little bittersweet and different than all of the million other bus trips we've taken this year for a few reasons. First of all, we're still alive! Everyone here is prepared to do whatever it takes to win this game and you can feel that energy. Second, I'm looking around at the seniors and the reality that this is their last Big Ten game has hit me. If the team wasn't feeling how much we're losing by their departure on Senior Day, we certainly are now!

Some people are doing homework (Laurie and Erin) and some people are sleeping (Alev). No matter what we're doing, I can honestly say that we're all mentally and physically prepared for the challenge we have facing us tomorrow night. A win will put us in third place in the Big Ten... a far cry from the 10th place finish we had last year. It's time Wisconsin Women's Soccer is taken seriously, and we're ready to prove that tomorrow night! We owe it to our seniors and to ourselves for all of the hard work we've put in since last season. It is our time!!!
