| Philip R. O’Leary, Ph.D., P.E., is Professor and Chair of Engineering Professional Development in the College of Engineering. The department annually provides continuing education and distance-delivered masters degree programs for thousands engineering and technical professionals from throughout the nation and world on a wide range of topics and specializations. Since 1998 he has also directed Camp Badger, a series of weeklong experiential summer camps aimed at introducing middle school students to careers in engineering and technology, serving nearly 300 students annually. In 2012, Phil was named the recipient of the Onstad Service to Society Award from the College of Engineering in recognition of his dedication to Camp Badger. With bachelors and master’s degrees in agricultural engineering and a PhD in Land Resources all from UW-Madison, Phil’s professional areas of interest are solid waste management, groundwater quality protection, sustainable systems, and related environmental topics. In addition, Phil is a member of the board of the International Association of Continuing Engineering Education and a registered professional engineer.
