Dr. Laurel Rice presently serves as the Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Nationally recognized as an expert in the care of women with gynecologic malignancies, she serves in leadership positions of many national organizations including the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, the Council of University Chairs in Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Gynecologic Obstetrics Society. Recently, she was appointed as Director, Division of Gynecologic Oncology, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as Representative, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Rice serves as an Associate Editor of The Journal of Gynecologic Oncology.

Dr. Rice earned her BA and MD at the University of Colorado and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as her Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology, at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA. Prior to coming to UW, she served on the faculty of the Massachusetts General Hospital, and of the University of Virginia, where she was appointed Division Chief of Gynecologic Oncology, established a Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology, and served as Vice Chair of the Department of OBGYN.
