David R. Zimmerman, Ph.D. is a Professor Emeritus of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Professor Zimmerman's primary area of research is the measurement and evaluation of the quality of health and long term care, and the development of health care performance measures.
Professor Zimmerman has served on several national boards and advisory committees, including the Nursing Home Measures Steering Committee of the National Quality Forum, the Board of Directors of the American Medical Directors Association Foundation and the AMDA Research Network Steering Committee. He has served on several national provider network boards and quality committees, as well as Institutional Review Boards for the State of Wisconsin.
Professor Zimmerman has been the recipient of several UW-Madison and national awards, including : Onstad Service to Society, College of Engineering (2006); Consumer Voice for Quality Award, National Citizens Coalition for Nursing Home Reform, (2008); and the DHHS Inspector General's Excellence in the Integrity of HHS Programs (2009).
