| Adam Gamoran |
| Adam Gamoran is John D. MacArthur of Professor Sociology and Educational Policy Studies and the Director of the Wisconsin Center for Education Research. He teaches courses and advises students in the sociology of education, a field that focuses on the relations between schools and society, the organization of schooling, and the role of education in maintaining or mitigating inequality. His research focuses on inequality in education, and his current work includes a large-scale randomized trial of the effects of a program to promote better relations between families and schools on the school performance of young children in predominantly Latino communities. He is a member of the National Academy of Education and has been a Fulbright Scholar as well as a visiting professor at universities in Scotland and Israel. He serves on a variety of national committees and currently chairs the congressionally-mandated Independent Advisory Panel of the National Assessment of Career and Technical Education for the U.S. Department of Education. |
