Fetzer Center Computer Labs
The computer labs in the Fetzer Centers are open exclusively to UW student-athletes. In order to use the labs, you will need to set up a network account. Please see the Computer Lab Coordinator (or your advisor) for more information.
As students at the University of Wisconsin, you are expected to abide by the UW's policies for Appropriate Use Of Information Technology Resources. In addition, the viewing of objectionable materials is not allowed in the computer lab, unless it is specifically assigned as part of your coursework.
Food & Beverages
Food and beverages rules for the computer lab are as follows:
- Closed beverage containers (i.e. water bottles, etc.) are allowed.
- Open beverage containers (i.e. paper cups, coffee cups, etc.) are not allowed.
- Food is not allowed.
Violating these rules may affect your lab access. If you cause any damage to the computers due to spilled food or beverages, you may be charged for repair or replacement.
All lab accounts include network space for the storage of files (i.e. a home directory). Due to space limitations on the server, excessive use of your home directory to store personal files may result in restrictions being place on your home directory. If you have a large number of files that are not related to academic work, you should copy them to portable storage such as a rewritable CD/DVD or a USB drive.
The Fetzer Centers have a limited number of laptop computers available for short-term check out to student-athletes.
The computer labs are quiet study areas. Excessive noise is not tolerated. Please keep talking and conversation to a minimum.
Due to NCAA Compliance Regulations, we must charge for printing. However, all of your printing needs are funded through the Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund. Black & white printing is available from your workstation; color printing must be requested through the computer lab staff.
Other Computer Labs
The UW-Madison campus provides general-access computer labs at 17 locations. Use of the labs is free (except for printing with Wiscard) for anyone with a valid UW-Madison ID. Applications are available for both Macintosh and Windows on dual-boot iMac computers. Hardware includes DVD/CD-RW drives, scanners, video editing resources, color printers, and poster printers. Not all hardware and software are available in every lab. Please contact individual labs for specific information.
